(NOT that i don't appreciate the environmental implications, and NOT that i don't try to remember that the whole lot should not be judged and viewed negatively just because of the behavior of 85% of them.) hipster thing is totally over rated too. or maybe i just get too much of it living in the mission. i just felt the need to reply as i understand your lament. as a person who has
* witnessed a cyclist obey a stop sign or traffic light less than probably 5 times since being in the city.
* multiple cases of near accident causing because of not following basic traffic rules, and then the cyclist subsequently reacts to the motorists as if it's all them (actually, i have witnessed this in 99% of all bicycle/motorist near- accidents. it'a a requirement or soemthing)
* was nearly hit by a cyclist at least 10 while crossing streets in crosswalk - note to cyclists, cutting less than a foot in front of a pedestrian is rude, even if you are sure you are not going to hit them, they are not. show a little respect) i was also nearly hit by one running a stop sign (i was in crosswalk) who then turned back at me and remarked.
* have stood on the sidewalk for what seemed minutes, waiting in disbelief and thinking surely the people with their bikes blocking the sidewalk having a conversation will sweet housewives looking casual sex Lexington Kentucky notice me and move and not think i'm just admiring them and basking in their brilliance (they didn't)
* been hit in the head and other body parts on the BART by people swinging around and up their bikes to go up stairs and otherwise, overzealously, without warning and without checking their surroundings.

(besides some apparent built up anger issues about cyclists- again, must remember that each cyclist is their own person and deserves to not be judged on the behaviors of others and only their own behavior- but i struggle i will admit). i hide my rage pretty well and always strive not to judge, as i've mentioned. besides sitting at home replying in rant with bullets to CL ad at 9 PM on a saturday night (all my friends are out of town!) - i'm a pretty cool person, so here's one who does not fall into described category. thanks for reading.
